As I'm training for my first tri, I can't help wonder besides training for the 3 sports, what other strength training can I to help in the long run?
If anyone already has a strength routine or can recommend really good exercises, let me know.

Strength training for the bike and run generally means doing those painful hill repeat sessions. Be certain to have a good aerobic base before tackling the hills. Not only will your body be more prepared, you're likely to gain more fitness from your strength training workouts.

Adding strength training to an already fill schedule of swimming, biking, and running, not to mention everything else you have going on in your life can be hard to fit in, but it is a very important part of training. At different times of the year, my athletes will have a different focus on strength training. For example, the off-season is a good time to build strength. The dark, cold winters may leave you inside more and able to work on this aspect. During the season, there it is less of a focus, but based more on maintence.

Some of the things that i have done that helped me:
Lunges - front, back, side to side
Bridge - lay down facing the floor, hold your hands just about your head and pick yourself up, hold it for 30 seconds, if it gets too easy, put your hands farther out.
Abs - i think concentrating on your lower abs is the best way to go, that is the hardest portion to build. Leg raises on an incline bench or hanging of a bar.

My recommendation is that triathletes get the most "bang for their buck" during strength training by performing circuit style, full body workouts 3x/week during the off-season and base-season to maintain fitness.
