PLEASE HELP...Need ideas from pros please

Hi. My husband is training for his first triathlon. He recently participated in a swimming clinic from Total Immersion where he learned the basics. What are some of the "necessities" he could use during training? Watch, swim gear, etc? I've tried doing some of my own research and just can't seem to get a good idea on gift ideas that would be beneficial to his training. He is a seasoned marathon runner so he has a lot of running apparel. Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thank you!

Rater than swim specific gear, I'd suggest multi-sport (triathlon) gear. Perhaps a nice Polar Heart Rate Monitor (I use the S720i and love it). Also Tri shorts & tri tops or maybe a one piece tri suit. Check out performancebike.com and visit their triathlon store. These are things he can use in any one or all three disciplines.

If you want to focus on swim specific gear, perhaps hand padles, a kick board, swim fins and a pull bouy for drills.

Good luck and happy holidays.

In my swim training I use hand paddels, a pull bouy (a figure 8 shaped foam float that fits between your legs) and a good pair of goggles.

I also use my Timex ironman watch alot in all disciplines, but it helps me track the laps and times.

On the goggles, I use the normal goggles in the pool, but for open water ocean swims I use the larger mask style goglles that help me sight the turn bouys better and stay on when I get kicked in the head on mass starts.

Maybe a light skin top for swimming on cold days or a tri wetsuit for cold swims?

Tri Stuff!

Ooh! There is so much you can buy! GPS systems are getting reasonable, and are supper cool! ANything related to a bike I'm sure would be appreciated!

For the pool paddles, goggles, a personalized swim cap?, speedo, flippers

For the bike, sun glasses, Aero Helmet, bike tools, New Jersey (bike or Tri)

for running HR monitor/GPS, My wife got me a cool little wrist band with my name and info on it in case I got run over or something while training(Road ID)
You could also buy him a training plan for training for his first race.

So much Stuff!
