Bobby, I assume we're talking Half Ironman or less. If so, I recommend using Bull Frog SPF 30 Gel. It's alcohol based, doesn't run and is easy to apply. Put it on before you leave the house then again after body marking before you start the swim. Don't waste time in T1. Good luck!
In a week is my first tri, and I was wondering what people do about sunscreen. Do you put it on before the swim, or after the swim during T1?
Thanks,
Bobby
bobby, bullfrog is great stuff, if you want another suggestion for a brand, try kinesys. it is $$$$ but your skin can actually breath and sweat. for any distance under full ironman, apply 1 liberal coat after you wake up in your hotel (after showering if applicable). never plan on applying in t1, it would be a huge waste of time. also, if you ever work your way up to an ironman event, they have volunteers that rub sunscreen on for you!! hope your first race was good. keep up the good work
Thanks for the reply. I bought the bullfrog gel brand. It was clear. Kinda weird for sunscreen. I put it on while setting up my transition area about 30 minutes before the race. It was overcast, so I think I could of gone without it.
