Life's a Beach

Today's IM training was T_O_U_G_H! Woke up at 5. Grabbed my Stalion and was on the road by 5:30. Road tempo to the next town (actually the only other town on my island) and met up with wifey and friends for a leisurly ride along the water for about 20 miles. Met up with another friend and he and my son rode to the Islands North Shore, up St. Croix's famous "Beast" and into town where we hooked up with family and had a killer steak and egg breakfast. Then on the road again (by myself... lost everyone else) and found more friends who hammered me to death for the final 18 miles of todays 81.5 miler. Now here's where it REALLY got tough. Came home, showered and met more friends for a short 15 minute ride to Buck Island. The water was crystal clear and 84 degrees. Someone had to hold that floatie down and drink that beer so I volunteered. Life turely in a beach here in St Croix.

So, for all of my land locked friends, you're cordially invited to visit and train wth us here in St Croix, USVI. Now with 7 triathlons throughout the year for your racing pleasure.

Hola Spikey. Iron is coming to me slowly. We have a route here called the "East End Loop". It's a 13 mile loop on my end of the island that's is regarded as a challenging bike race course due to 4 big climbs and numerous smaller ones. I ran that at 4AM and will do so again on Thursday. Then Sunday it's the annual 18 mile Fort-to-Fort. I've never run it but it sounds like a blast. That'll put me at 62 miles for the week, one of my longest run weeks ever. I won't drown so I'm not scared of the swim but it won't be fast. We'll see about the bike...

30 days to the bench mark race, the Toyota Wall to Wall Sprint. I was a flat 1:30 last year. 10 of 70~.

So what's next on the calendar for Spike? How's training going?
