Training w/Plantar Fasciitis

Has anyone had any luck with healing Plantar Fasciitis, while continuing to bike and swim. I started by cutting my running milage in half, but still have pain. I am currently icing after training, sleeping in a boot, and wearing insoles for my ailment. Any advice would be great. If I need to stop training completly, then that is what I will do. Hopefully, this will heal in a short time, since I have already committed too the Ironman Arizona in 2007.

Thanks,
Todd

Good luck Todd. I also have a friend named Todd with the exact same issue. He's been to many Docs to no avail. I hope you have more success.

I had plantars fascitis a few years ago. It felt like I was walking on pins and needles, especially first thing in the moring. It took about 6-8 months to really get rid of it. First, I went out and purchased a real, real, good or Rockport shoes to wear to work and everyday. They gave my feet a lot more support. I also purchased an extra pair of running shoes to wear when I wasn't wearing the Rockports. I was never barefoot. After running, and when resting I did two other things. I kept a tennis ball with me and would roll it under my feet to stretch the tendons. I would also keep a plasic cup of water frozen and remove the ice and roll it under my feet, also. It took time and I had to practice these tips everyday. I have given this advice to other fellow runners and it worked for them, not overnight, but give it time. I have been pain free now for about 5 years.

Thanks dd for the info. I am currently rolling a frozen bottle of water under my foot 3 times a day and stretching. I also purchased some heel inserts for extra cushioning. I will try the tennis ball also.

Thanks,
Todd
