Great Lake Tri in Michigan

Okay I got to do the Great Lakes Triathlon in Middleville Michigan last Saturday (July 22, 2006).

It was a long sprint at 800m swim, 18 miles bike, 4.5 miles in the run.

I was happy with my time, but I was over my pie in the sky goal of 1 hour 50 minutes with a time of 1:50:44

My splits were as follows

Swim 16:08 (2:01/100m)
T1 2 minutes
Bike 54:48 (19.7mph)
T2 47 seconds
Run 37:07 (8:14 minute/miles)

My swim was off to start with, but then I calmed down and did much better. The bike was good and fast with lots of hills, never a dull moment. The run was good, but at 2 miles I was under 16 minutes, so I decided I could slow down a little and I did too much. I could have made my time with an 8 minute/mile. Over all very happy with the results. Great weather. One dude did the swim in just under 10 minutes.

I will do this race again as the setting was very nice and the race directors were very good.

Now I want to do an Oly! I feel I am ready. There is one close on Aug 19th and I hear the hills are huge!

Peace,
Jason

You rock Jason! Way to hammer. Very impressive bike in the hills and great run time. Your swim was certainly not bad. Great job!

Jason,
Way to go! Great times! Which Olympic are you considering? You know that the MidEast championships are here in Indy on 8/27. If you're interested go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and look in the entry lists. Eagle Creek is a great race venue and the people are wonderful. Don Carr is a wonderful race director and the lead referee is great too. The distance is 1.5k/40k/10k. The bike course is hilly, but one you get out onto the country roads, its pretty flat and the roads are well maintained. Anyway, something to think about!
