| Time to get serious IM & IS (as in Iron Spike, my new term of endearment), Looks like we're all alone here :)
Committed to the GFT last night. Booked the flight, reserved the car, now all I have to do is get serious about the training. I haven't been swimming (as in miles) for a long time and my bikes have been in the 40 mile range.
Think I mentioned that Wifey has gotten back into training in the last month and we're our favorite training partners however, that really bites into the serious training. For example, my bike races aren't A races for me but I use them as training opportunities. There's a 40k Team Time Trial Sunday and guess who want's to be my team member? Right, Wifey. She's about 60% of my level on the bike so to get my workout in, I have to Time Trial from home to the Time Trial, race, then go for a training ride. The good news is it's a windy course so I told her I'd pull the 3 mile streatch into the wind. Hopefully after the race, I can get in another 50 or so before Mango Melee (It's Mango season and we turn it into a Mango party :))
Thought you'd enjoy info I gleened from a podcast interview with Mark Allen, 6 time Kona winner. He recommends ALL base phase training in HRZ even if it means walking up hills. I never do puke my eyes out intervals but do enjoy tempo workouts. He suggest only doing this late in the training phase. Interesting...
I hope everyone has a great and SAFE weekend. Have fun!
