| I am most certainly in your age group and I can recommend weight training, but I would recommend a Personal Trainer to set you on the way becuase you will need to have an assessment of your body so that any weak points can be identified and managed. Also because form when weight training, as in all other sports is absolutley vital. I started out on a simple circuit that focused on all areas of my body (balanced training is important) and then went to free weights to address the various weaknesses I had. A year later I can bench press 120 kgs and and leg press 200 kgs. Weight lifting has ensured that I have remained uninjured in a year of training for ironman distance tri's, and I believe it is fabulous for all women and especially women who are 40+. I encourage you to add a 40 minute session of weight training into your program 3 times a week to reap the benefits, good luck! |
