St. Croix, US Virgin Islands Triathlon

OK Dudes and Dudettes,
It's time to promote our local tris. Although we have several throughout the year, in May we have the Kona qualifier (30 slots!) Beauty & The Beast. The 70.3 is just that and is regarded by many as the toughest half in the world. Most pros will tell you this feels like a 3/4 Ironman. For those not quite up to it or are afraid of "The Beast", our legendary leg killing climb 20 miles into the ride, there is also a Sprint .5/8/4. Lodging is filling up fast so now is the time to plan. There's a great street party on Friday before the race and of all the tri's I've done, certainly none are more scenic. Hope to see you here. If you make it, give me a ring and I'll buy you a Powerade :)

Scott-
I just visited the web page you posted for the St. Croix 70.3...it looks like a great course. "The Beast" looks like fun to me. Have you raced this course before? I'll keep this race in mind for a possible 2007. My calander is pretty full for this year. I've vacationed in St. Croix once about 8-10 years ago. It was a year after the big hurrican blew through...beautiful and great diving. I see you dive also...I certified in 1970 (NAUI), I havn't been diving for the last several years. Doing the 2007 St. Croix would be a great oppurtunity to get in a few dives. I might just take you up on that Powerade!

I'm five weeks from doing the Calif. 70.3 at Oceanside. I did the course last year in a heavy rain and wind. I'm hoping to have better weather this year.

Thanks for all of your informative posts~
