Help - Sick after sunday race

Hello everyone! Maybe someone has experienced this and they can help me out!
I did the Westchester Olypmic distance Tri on sunday. Saturday night we had the pasta party....I didn't over do it...just ate the normal pasta and chicken. Race went well...used 2 powergels during the race...they didn't bother me! But then when I was done...Horrible stomach pains, and I felt like I was shaking when I tried to take a quick nap. Yesterday (monday) was bearable but still bad stomach pains. Today...horrible stomach pains again, throwing up and nauseous!

I figured maybe my electrolytes are still out of wack and I am dehydrated so I bought Pedialyte to help restore the fluids.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Thank you so much!
Meghan

Hi Meghan, if you were in Colorado I would say you had a wicked case of altitude sickness but since you are in N.J. it sounds like a case of dehydration and in need of some nourishment. The best thing that I have done in this situation is lots of soup and when your stomach can handle it add some bread. Keep the complex fluids going and this should help.
I hope this helps.
Spike.

P.S. I would not start out with Chunky sirloin burger, go with a light veggie or some broth even.
If the problem doesen't clear up in the next day or so, please see your doctor as there might be something more going on.
Good Luck.

Ok...well I gave in and went to the doctors...I thought I could battle this on my own! It ends up being a contagious stomach virus, w/ a nice 102 fever and migraine headache!
Thank goodness this is after my race~
