Hey everyone I am thinking about getting the Giant TCR Composite TT t-mobile bike does anyone have any opinions? How benificial is it having a full TT bike and not just a roadie converted?
I love the giant frames, that thing will be a rocket.
I would just consider if you would want to ride this for any other reason; this bike is specific to maximum effort time trials and won't be comfortable for weekend rides and the like. You would prob gain some time over a straight road setup, but you would prob need two bikes.
Thanks Robert G. I already have a Giant road bike so that is why I was thinking to get the TT. If I was training for an ironman or doing long rides would that bike not be comfertable for that? Do you think I should look at some other options as far as TT or tri bikes? Would that bike be bad on rolling courses?
Hey Ryan. Thats an awesome bike. However for longer distances I would stick to something less aggressive. Have you ridden one? THey are not very forgiving. You feel every bump in the road, but that is why they are fast!
People have ridden full TT style bikes in Ironman, but I wouldn't jump into the big miles right off the bat. You might want to look at some Tri specific bikes. Cervelo has a great range of dual and tri bikes.
Good Luck, and I say take it for a TEst ride.

This depends greatlly on your ability to obtain the position you are looking for. Many tris can put togther a quality aero position for longer events by just converting a road bike - most common problem is that the reach, from saddle to bars, can be too long. For shorter distances, where a more aggressive position is applicable by default, a full TT bike will allow you to adapt a more aggressive position to maximize aerodynamics. The bike itself (iow, the aerodynamic qualities of the tubing, rear wheel, etc), will only make a significant difference if you are racing short distances or are at least a top age group triathlete. Aero bars (in this case, clipped onto a road bike) and aero wheels will give you much more bang for your buck than the aero tubing.

I have a Composite TT and it is seriously a fast, comfortable bike. I previously TT'd on a converted Klein Quantam - far too rigid. Following that, a TCR 0 with Cinelli Angel bars. That was a perfect position for me. After three years on that, I decided the time was right to by a specific TT bike. I looked at the Cervelo P3 first, but opted for the Composite TT. The position change was minor compared to my TCR 0, and it was a far more comfortable bike.
It's very VERY fast, and super comfortable to run off. I noticed a comment about it being aggressive, but I really don't think it is. It feels longer, more relaxed than the TCR 0, and the damping is far better. I raced it at Forster for a 5:11 bike split, and the comfort factor was superb. Far better than the previous bikes I've ridden.
