Flying with bikes - Triathlon Week

Hi! I am going to be doing my second Sprint Triathlon in May. It is in St. Criox. I am nervous about flying on a turboprop plane because I read on one travel website that your bike may not make it at the same time that you do. Since I'll be needing my bike less than 24 hours after my planned arrival, I am a loose ends. American Airlines said that if the flight is filled to capacity, they can't guarantee that the bike will make it. How have y'all flown with your bikes? Have you gotten lucky with flying on puddle-jumpers or have you always managed to take jet service to where you're going?

Sometimes you can send your bike through UPS or FEDEX. Check that option out. You can send it to a local bike store where they will assemple it for you.
