Newbie ?

Okay I am a little embarrassed to ask this but I am running my first tri next month and I will be wearing a spring suit and I run/bike in basketball-style shorts. My question is what to wear under the wetsuit? I am not really worried about my time since it's my first tri but am worried about looking like an idiot wrapping a towel around myself and changing while people are scurrying around me trying to get a good transition in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! Why don't you try wearing the Speedo Fastskin swim suit under your wetsuit. The fastskin looks like bikeshorts without the padding. Then in transition put your shorts on over the speedo. I'm sure you know that there are a number of tri specific shorts that have a thinner bike pad in them (they are made of material that actually doesn't absorb the water); you might want to give that a try...it makes the bike ride alot more comfortable!!!! Good luck!!! Have fun!!!!

I wear a zoot tri short.

Enough padding for cycling, doesn't feel like a diaper when wet. Easy to take of your wetsuit with them on. I used to put running shorts over them, but now I just run in them.

Modesty goes out the window after a couple of races...
