| Good start but.....maybe I could use a Coach in Rhode Island Hi there,
Well I had my first race of the season today - didn't do too bad (2nd
in my age group, 12th overall at 1:08:05 - within 3 minutes of my goal
time for this sprint - 500y/12m/5k ).
I probably could have saved a minute (which equates to about 4 places)
in the transitions (I had a wardrobe malfunction.... Despite
practicing, I still had problems getting my wetsuit off my ankles....
and later I couldn't get my running socks on my wet feet after the
ride).
I had a great swim (8th overall) but would have liked to have done
better on the bike - and that is indeed where my main attention will
now go.
I've been training myself for the last 10 years - really just
developed a training program last year with moderate success (12:30
1st time Ironman) - and have been focusing on base building this year
and now transitioning to strengthening and speed.
I have very aggressive goals for the season (2:10 or better Olympic
Distance - I'm probably between a 2:15 and 2:25 if I were to race an
Olympic today) and now that I have my base phase behind me I'm
suddenly left with the realization that I really don't know what I'm
doing.
So I finally get to the point of this posting: I think I would like a
coach. I would prefer someone in the area (Rhode Island) who can watch
my run/bike habbits and suggest changes. A team or group coach would
be great.
Suggestions and/or stories of a success/failure you think I should
know about regarding coaches would be great.
Thanks!
