Hi all-I have a problem and hope that someone has a fix. My nipples
get rubbed raw after about 20 minutes of running. I come from a
running background, so I have been putting band-aids on the affected
area before a run. The problem comes when I try to put band-aids on
in T2. With all the sweat and time critical time constraints in a
race, I haven't been able to get the band-aids to stick.
Is there a product out there that will eliminate the chafing? Has
anyone tried putting band-aids on prior to the swim? What about a
tighter fitting tri-specific shirt?
I used to use a flexible-type Band-Aid and some waterproof adhesive stuff
that helped them stay on (similar to spirit gum, made for men's and
prosthetics). But for some reason it's not a problem as of late... maybe I
toughened up my nipples? Have you tried different shirts? I've been using
the new DeFeet Un-D-Lite liner shirts... they're tight, cool, soft, and no
chaffing anywhere. Best liner shirts I've ever worn... I wear them for
everything.
Try the DeFeet shirts-Un-D-Lite- they're new, not many had them in stock so
I ordered direct. I love them and my nipples are happy!!! (I know, I need
help.)

Your best option is to run shirtless. Otherwise, try using Bodyglide. In
the winter, when it's too cold to run shirtless, I use it for nipple
chafing. On long runs, I use it between a few of my toes to prevent
blisters. I also use it to prevent saddle sores & hot spots on long bike
rides. It's definately a must for fast wetsuit changes in T1.

I don't have this problem - - either I lack the pec's or they stay put.
However, I do blister my feet. Have you considered the Band-Aid branded
"second-skin" or other foot-oriented adhesive stuff? The sticky stuff is
MUCH stouter than off-the-shelf bandages.

P.S. - I need to proof read twice now to see if I left myself vulnerable to
a follow-up pun/malapropism from Harold or Ray... : )

Chuck--Are you wearing cotton shirts? WHen I do, they get heavy with
sweat and begin to chafe. Also, if I don't wear something under my
wetsuit, they will chafe.
Also, I remembered reading something on a website, and went and found
it again, at no small expenditure of time and inconvenience to myself,
but for you nothing is too much. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Use nothing to protect those parts. just toughen them up. After all you
are a triathlete, right.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I haven't tried putting on bandaids
before the swim-thought they would just float away. I wear only
coolmax material on the run, so cotton isn't the issue. BTW, my wife
has no sympathy for me after breast feeding 2 kids.
Yeah, you get it. Just like putting a handful of sand in your shoes to
toughen up the feet for running sockless.
