Aquasphere Mask versus Goggles

I've been using the aquasphere mask for about one year and really like
them. But recently, as I've increased the length of my swims, the
mask starts to become uncomfortable and the mark it leaves on my face
lasts longer and longer (a few hours, which can be embarrassing
depending on my post-swim plans).

I have a narrow face and wondered if anyone else with that profile has
had a similar experience? Specifically, I'm wondering whether the
Aquasphere goggles might be more comfortable (as there's less area
where they touch your face)

thanks in advance,

jon

Re: Aquasphere Mask versus Goggles

Hey Jon,

It's nice to hear from another aquaphere user. I use the Aquaphere Kaiman
goggles for workouts, competition and open water. It never gets
uncomfortable. Of course, it depends on facial shape. My face is narrow
and the kaiman works great for me - I swear by these goggles.

Jon, do you do the flip turns? I am just wondering if the mask would stay
on while doing that. I have bought these masks for my sons, but both wear
contact lenses and that is why they wear the masks. Also, neither is a lap
swimmer.

Jon..

I did the same thing last season. I really liked the seal mask, but it was
uncomfortable and heavy.. I switched over to the Kaimen goggles mostly
because I forgot my mask one day at the pool so I used my sons kaimen
goggles < the kid size> they were a little snug but I loved them.. well the
blue lenses were a bit much. So I bought the clear / bronze ones and I love
them.
they come in sizes to so having a narrow face, its easier to find ones that
fit..

I use the Seal mask in openwater and occasionally at the
pool. I can flip turn with them, though I do get a little
water. I like them in competition because of the
visibility, but I prefer goggles in the pool. My personal
favorite are the old TYR Socket Rocket which has now been
remade by everyone (though I can only find the kids size).
I am currently using a smaller TYR goggle which has similar
silicon gasket rather than foam. These have been great -
they don't fog, they are have great visibility, and they
were only $12 which I thought was about right for a pair of
goggles.
