From Sprint to Half IM in 9 weeks?

I finished my first Sprint this past weekend, and although I am a
lousy swimmer (efficiency wise... performance particuliarly), the tri
was very easy, and I was pleased with my time. (1:14:08... but with a
14:30 swim, and 2 3 minute transitions).

I would like to sign up for steelhead (70.3 in Michigan) for August.
The swim was not difficult, but just slow.

I am in marathon shop, and run about 50-55 on average, but during
peaks (fall, and spring for Boston), I run upwards of 90). I average
around 75 miles a week on the bike, and my current long ride is 62. I
am a sub 3 hour marathoner , pretty decent biker... and someone that
really needs a swim coach (hired ....).

Any thoughts? Anyone attempted this jump?

My goal is to do Ironman Wisconsin in August of 2008. This event fills
the day after, so I would like to have an idea of my desire to
complete a full by then.

Thanks in advance -

Additionally, I have the gear (outside of a wet suit... I plan on
purchasing an ultrafull QR ) , and a nice Cervelo setup.

If that makes any difference. My swim was without a wet suit.

You can do your half right now! If you keep focusing on improving your
swim, you'll also do a great time.

Give it a go, but don't get overexited about your prospects. You won't
win, but will complete.
