Lessons learned

Good day all. I am getting some really good advice from this group.
With this kind of encouragement I might actually pull this off. I say
that because I did my first 300 meter swim today. It is a lot harder
than it looks. I finished but I stuck to working on basic techniques.
Hopefully by next year I will have a decent time. I have a buddy who
competed in swim at the co ledge level so I will get some help from him.

I am also going to start looking for some expert help locally -- North
Texas. Since I have an aggressive schedule I probably will need the
extra help.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement.

Gman~
Stick with it! I remember when I started swim training a few years ago. I'd never been a swimmer (still can't do flip turns!), and I started with 2 laps at a time. Now, I'm training for the IM and its unbelievable the improvement. Get all of the help you can from your friend. Technique is key, the more effecient you are, the better. Good luck to you!

What part of North Texas? I'm planning to do the Stonebridge Tri. I'm
of no use as expert help, but I am training up in the McKinney area.

I am in Sachse; south of Allen and east of Murphy. I work in Plano have
a club membership there. The club has a 25m pool where I can address
my swimming skills...or lack thereof. Currently my workout schedule
includes 3 runs per week, weight training 2 days, and swim on Saturday.
Sunday's is time off. I plan on adding bike training into the
schedule in about one month.
