fact: the word "spam" was developed in Usenet groups to cover precisely
this sort of off-topic posting.

Second interesting and relevant (to the readers of rec.sport.triathlon)
fact: the Usenet convention for signatures is that they should begin
with the characters "-- " alone on a line. That is dash, dash, space.
This allows newsreader software to ignore the signature when reading
the message. I only mention this because someone, presumably the
administrator of triweek.com, has omitted the space and so your
signatures are improperly formatted.
