Emilio, while Wildflower is a great race and location, I was there for
the wet-one and stood under cover at the small shop one day watching
you demonstrate the T1 in builders boots and white socks... it is
simply just a "small" world American view to claim its the largest race
in the World.

I did a sprint race in Australia about 8-weeks ago that had 4,500
people racing in the same race, not over a weekend. London Triathlon
has more people over the weekend between 7,000 and 8,500 depending on
how you count, Noosa in Australia has 8000 over the w/e and of course
even the Americans won't agree as Mrs T's in Chicago has 7,500...

Its a small world and getting smaller...

Pardon my Off-Topic Reply

Maybe... "a small world American thing". It is more likely a cultural
laziness or hoping that someone ELSE would not research it!

Georgia (USA) has a Rock & Roll Half Ironman Distance that advertises
being Georgia's *first*. For several years we had a half, near
Savannah. That was twenty years ago and most of today's triathletes
didn't know how to ride a bike yet!

I guess there is a statute stating that anything more than ten years
old never happened. : )

Re: FA: Wildflower 20 Year Aniv T-shirt on eBay

Good morning,

I have done Noosa (3 times) and I have done Mrs. T's (and before that
Chicago Sun-Times 7 times), and I have done Wildflower (17 times) and
in 2002, at the peak of Wildflower's popularity, it was in fact rated
as the largest race. Bigger than both the afformentioned. But to save
myself time in replying to emails that I knew would come, my claim that
it is the largest should have read "one of the largest." My apologies
if there is an error in the text, if you feel like I am trying to rip
off someone bidding on the T-shirt, just don't bid on it.

Kind regards,

Emilio De Soto II
