Seems like pool tris are fairly rare, but the ones I have done all

#5 | | Re: pool start question The only one that I ever did, I split a lane with one other swimmer.
I think there were 12 people in each wave and the waves went off every
12 minutes. 500 yard swim. You had 10 minutes to complete your swim,
or they pulled you out to an additional lane. I don't know what
happened there. | |

Rep Power:  | For a lot of pool triathlons, you are not allowed to dive in. You have to start in the water due to insurance purposes and/or pool rules.
The most important thing in the pool swim is the flip turn- if you master that, you'll save tons of time. Another time-saving trick is to try not to take a breath right after your turn. Take one stroke first, since your breathing will slow your momentum. (This is a tip from a coach who trained my provincial swim team). |

Last one I did in this configuration, they were banned.
