Salt in my shoes

It's been a lot of snow and ice here lately so the sidewalks and roads
are full of rock salt. I can't seem to make it 1/2 mile before I've got
to stop and take my shoe off.

It's bad enuf I'm injured and have to mostly walk instead of run, but
this is getting to be a royal pain in the butt. I tried duct tape around
the tops but it won't stick to my socks. Anyone got any better suggestions

BTW: I've got wide forefoot and narrow heels, and just about any shoe
still has gaps around the ankles where the salt gets in.
Eric

Re: Salt in my shoes

I've heard that the guys that run across deserts and suchlike use a silk
gator that you glue to you running shoe... perhaps something like that might
work?
