So I have set the goal for myself of completing an ironman before the
ancient ;-) age of 31.
I have found the ironman america webpage
([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) where I can get the schedule of
WTC ironman events.
Anyone know of a place where I can find listing of schedules for
non-WTC ironman events in North America (as I try to plan training,
work, vacation, etc).
I was figuring that it would be easier to get into a non-WTC event. Any
suggestions? People seem to say good things about the GFT. How about
ones closer to the Washington DC area?

I think Duke Blue Devil and ChesapeakeMan are both closer to DC. They
might not be listed yet on trifind, but should be eventually. RedMan, in
Oklahoma City, is not on trifind yet, either.

Harold: Have you decided which ironman race you are doing in 2005?
I noticed that both my a and b choices are not doing ironman distance in
2005 (Pineman in Columbus, OH and Ultramax in Missouri).
How is it that the M-dot races fill up in hours (indicating demand) - but
M-dot races are diminishing?

I was going to do Pineman, but now that that's gone I think I'm going to
do RedMan in Oklahoma City.

It's all marketing. I'd bet a lot of people who do the M-Dot races are
unaware of the generic alternatives. The smaller races can't afford a
lot of high-profile advertising.

Chesapeakeman will be in it's second year in 05. It's put on by Rob
Viggorito (sp?) and the Columbia triathlon group. It got some really nice
reviews by participants in 04. It features a unique point to point swim and
a fast flat course on the eastern shore of Maryland. After my first IM race
this year at Placid, I'm putting this one on as my 05 IM distance race. You
can find info at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
