What are your thoughts on Accelerade?

I've been using Acclelerade for a few months now during running and
cycling. Does anyone else use it? Do you think the added protein makes a
difference? What are good alternatives?

Thanks for your help.

Jim,

I've used accelerade, my biggest problem with it is that the protein in it makes it 'chunky' and it separates in your bottle into water and sludge.

There have been studies that adding a small amount of protein will increase your carb uptake, but cliff bars have enough protein in them if you eat one every few hours IMO.

Re: What are your thoughts on Accelerade?

I've also been using Accelerate for a few months and can tell a
difference between it and water when it comes to performance and
endurance. My workouts seem to last longer or are more intense. I
use to always drink water so that is my only comparison. I have a
strong scientific/engineering background and their claim because of
the added protein does make sense, however each person's body will act
differently.

I just started using Endurox R4 as a recovery drink and feel it's help
tremendously. I've increased my workouts to 2x/day for 4 days/week
with 2 other days of just a single workout and I'm feeling the
benefits without feeling rundown or tired.

Watching the Olympics doesn't hurt my motivation either!

Well, a better control would be comparing to a non-protein sports drink.

I've tried Accelerade, Sustain (from e-caps), & Perpetuem (from e-caps).
I've also tried mixing Champion Pro Score with Gatorade. Honestly though, I
don't think the added protein helps. I've read lots of literature claiming
it does, but I honestly can't tell the difference. So, I've gone back to
gel (hammer gel), water, and electrolytes (endurolytes). My training & IM
nutirition plan is once again simple, sufficient, and cheap.

Good luck!
