| More Stones MORE STONES!
Legend has it that during the Salem witch trials, one landowner was accused of being a witch (warlock, technically), was tried and sentenced to crushing. Crushing consisted of placing large stones on the victim until he/she was crushed to death.
Now, an interesting twist to the "rules" of the game was that if the witch confessed, their soul was saved. (They were still put to death, however.) Another interesting "rule" was that a confessed witch forfeited all his possessions. This landowner suspected (correctly it appears) that his accusers were merely trying to get his land. If he confessed, his family would be left penniless.
On the appointed day of torture, as his tormentors placed the stones on him, they paused several times and asked him if he had anything to say, inviting a confession.
"More Stones!" was his only reply.
Life will often place the stones of adversity and strife on you. When things are going badly and you feel like giving in or giving up, just think of that old man at Salem. We embrace the bold arrogance it takes to look your tormentor in the eyes and say "Give me more. I can take it. I won't give in." "More Stones!" is your rallying cry.
