I just completed my first tri and had a great time, but sadly, one of the competitors had passed away during the swim leg. I am planning on doing more tris, but am now a little concerned about the swim. I understand that when God calls you, there is nothing you can do, but at the same time, I do not want to be ignorant in properly checking myself and knowning that I am phyically able to perfrom.

Has there been any discussion as to a proper physical, or things to check that might have been the cause of death for these triathletes?
