Hi all, I just wanted to let you know I'm still out here even if I haven't been on the boards as of late. My olympic race is this Sunday and I have a bit of a problem, as of about 2 weeks ago I have been fighting a naging cough. Last night it was so bad that during my coughing, I sort of blacked out and both arms went numb and I dropped my beverage in my lap. My wife and youngest daughter were right there and looked like I just fell through the roof from space. I recovered quickley and all is well and I slept very soundly last night. As you could probably tell my training is way off because of this and I'm just now getting it back on track, boy are my times gonna suck :curse: oh well I guess bad times are much better than DNF's.
I will let you all know how it went on Monday (7/23). There is two very bright spots in this race that I'm looking forward to, first my son in law is racing with me, it is also his first tri, and secondly we will be racing with a true legend, Sister Madona Budder!!!!!
As for the cough, I am on antibiotics and been to the Dr. twice, I guess it will just have to pass on it's own.
Until Monday.
Spike.

Good luck Spike. I can tell you from experience you can cough through the swim. Just do it on the exhale cycle preferably! :)

I've also had better success when sick, racing soley on liquids. I need 600-750 calories in Olys. but am able to get them without food or gels. Don't know if this would help you but thought it worth mentioning.

Let us know how you fair. Go get em!

Hey Spike,

I raced recently with a cold and the swim cleared me up for the rest of the race. I hope it has the sam effect for you. Which race are you participating in?
