Hi gang, sorry for the delay on the race report, work and life have me really busy. As for the race it was alot better than last years sprint (water in the lungs & DNF) this year I diddn't let any water in where it dosen't belong! The swim was slow as swims go but my new wet suit gave me the boyancy that I naturally lack and I was able to relax and just get it done, time 24:55 for 1/2 mile, this is 4 min. faster than my goal time. On to T1, as I'm running up the beach pealing and tearing gear off I feel like I have dropped something, I get to my trusty steed and get the cycling togs on when I realize my watch is missing, hummm so that's what I dropped, so I head back to the entrance to TA and let the folks there what I think happened, they took down my number and all pointed to the exit and shouted GO!! T1 3:23, just 23 sec. slower than I hoped. On the bike course, it was a fabulous Colorado morning and the ride was nothing less than awsome, time 55:09, 17.2 mi. (18.7 MPH) Just a bit shy of my goal but not to bad. On to T2, get to my rack to find that my rack mates are all back and on the run, no surprise since I was almost the last one out of the water in our wave, so I put on the shoes and hat and off I go.... BEEP goes the timing mat, 20 feet on the run I realize my race belt and number is still in my gear bag, turn around and cross the mat again, get the belt and over the mat again (timers are making sure that only one is recorded) T2 1:58, over a min. faster than I tought even with the oops. On to the run, for some reason my legs wanted to stay in TA but I made them go for a jog, yep a jog. The bike took more out of them than I wanted and I was going to pay the price. I got to the turn around and headed for home, by now it was getting hot and I was feeling it, last turn and across the finish line. Run (sort of) 35:26 3.1 mi. (11:25 mm). Total race time 2:00:52, just 52 sec. slower than my goal and a time that I will crush next year!!!!!!
I hope you have enjoyed reading my race report as much as I had living and typing it.
Next race July 22 Boulder Peak, olympic distance.
Happy racing.
Spike.

Spikey, You're a M_O_N_S_T_E_R! Great bike spilt. In that altitude, I truly am impressed. Congrats on the swim and your dramatic improvements. You did the right thing on the run and just started moving. You're an inspiration and I appreciate you sharing your experience. Good luck on your Oly. Goal time?

By-the-way... Did you ever recover your watch?
