I just wanted to introduce the following race to my fellow TriWeekers...

On November 18, 2007 St Croix will host its 3rd running of the Subaru Classic International Triathlon. Yes, I did say it was a new race so let me explain...

This years event is being held as the Caribbean Championship and will offer respectable prize purses & primes for both Pro and Age Group competitors. We expect athletes from all over the Caribbean including, all three US virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands, St Marteen, Nevis, Trinidad, Puerto Rico and more. Pros will be coming from all over the world to compete.

This Olympic distance race is extremely challenging but the course is absolute eye candy. The race starts and ends at the Bucaneer Hotel at the very beach pictured here St Croix Virgin Island Hotels and Resorts -The Buccaneer Hotel. The 1500m 2 loop swim is held in the Buccaneer Bay and is typically calm, clear and warm. The bike will take you from the Buccaneer to gorgeous Carmers Park, continuing around the East End Loop (my favorite 13 mile run!) then around Lowery Loop twice. While the bike leg is not particularly technical, it is hilly enough that you won't get bored! You'll finish your race with an incredble, scenic and wonderfully supported two loop run through the grounds of the Buccaneer along the golf course. If this isn't the most beautiful race destination and race you'll ever do, I'll eat my sweaty race socks :)

If you're interested or would like more info feel free to drop me a line at Scott.Fricks@gmail.com. Look for more info soon at stcroixtriathlon.com.

And while you're down, try your legs on "The Beast", our signature 18%-25% grade 7/10 mile climb done in our Ironman 70.3 race. DON'T WORRY!!! This speed bump is not part of the Caribbean Classic.

What better place to spend a Thanksgiving than carbo loading with Cruzan Rum and racing in the beautiful US Virgin Islands? Hope to see you in November!
