That was a good read for a Newbie like myself.....thanks!! i'll try to remember those tips when I compete in my first Tri this May 6th......especially the one about the 12 year old lap counter!

I definitely think the biggest newbie mistake is wasting time in the transition area. Of course some first-time triathletes are less concerned about their finish time than simply completing the race.
