Never too late to start. I started this year @ 34. You always read stories about peeps starting much later than that too.

I would advise reading the tri rags - Triathlete and Inside Triathlon. Maybe pick up a book like "Triathlon 101" by John Mora (ISBN - 0880118113). I found it extremely useful in helping me adjust my training appropriately for sprint and short course tris. Season is winding down, so you got plenty of time ahead of you. Also check out USAT if you haven't (http://www.usatriathlon.org/) there's a calendar of events there that can get you going.

I started at 42. Look at trinewbies.com lots of training plans. There's as much info out there to suck up as you have time to spend.

I started at 47 after thirty years of smoking, I've quit smoking. And have falen in love with the sport and most of all the people involved in the sport. Find a good bike and runing store quality shose are a must. Start modist on the bike. But talk to people and ask questons thay can help you alot. I finished my first race #97 out of 102. My last race this year I finished 2nd in my age group 42nd overall out of 100. Good luck and most of all have fun at the race and when you pratice. happy trails mike

I'm starting at 52 - actually going to run my first on my 53rd birthday.

I figured I was going to be 53 anyway - I could either be 53 and run a triathlon.

Or just be 53.

Never too old to start this sport, if your going to compete you will notice that the age range is very wide to the young girls and boys who fly past you, to alot of the oldies flying past you.
Cheers
Julian.
