Greetings all,

I'm doing my first tri in three weeks time and am about to purchase my first wetsuit/speedsuit.

I'm trying to find out what other experienced athletes wear under their wetsuits. Do you wear your cycling shorts?

If I buy a speedsuit I know my shorts will stay dry but you sweat like a pig in them and I'm sure the shorts will get just as wet as if I wore a wetsuit.

I'm thinking of getting a 1mm wetsuit from these guys http://www.chillchea...d=3&p=1&pid=882

Anybody tried one of these? The water temp will be 16c so not too cold.

So my question really is what do you wear through each stage of the race.

Hope you can help.

There is a special triathlon suit that is called "tri-suit" or something like that. That is a suit you can keep for the 3 sports. This is what I use. For the swimming you put it below your wetsuit. Then you have just to remove the wetsuit to be ready to go cycling.

For example, you can have a look to the Orca website where you can see such a suit.

I hope this helps.
Bye.

Suit arrived in five days after ordering (inc. overseas postage). Fit was OK but a bit long on the leg. That could be down to our measurement as opposed to their cutting.

Used for the first time on race day. Good bouyancy but was not prepared, despite all the warnings, about how bad the 'argy bargy' gets at the start.

Finally got into a line and managed to finish. Relatively easy to take off in trans.

Would I recommend it? Yes. Compared to the speedsuits you don't sweat and you don't feel restricted in any way. As long as the water is not too cold then you should do fine.
