Ironman knows they have a "virtual monopoly" on Ironman distance races and know athletes don't have any other IM distance race alternatives. I would like to see some
changes in the next few years and would appreciate any of your help to encourage them to change.

1) Atleast 1 IM distance race in Northern and Southern California.
2) Consolidate the race activities into 3 days Fri, Sat, Sun (instead of current 5)

I would love to see an IM race come back to Southern Cal. IM California was a great race and I was saddened to see it go. To be honest the entry fee is a little higher than other races but I spend a lot more on travel, hotels and other prep costs than I do on entry fees!

I was just having this conversation with my wife the other day. We were discussing lodging for the Oceanside 70.3 I am entered in. The next year I am planning a Full IM and was thinking where and wishing there was one here in CA. I guess I will have to travel for now.

Isn't the Vineman is CA? I realize it's not an M-Dot race but Iron is Iron.

You are correct Scott but I am assuming we are refering M-Dot events. I would like one closer to LA/OC area.

I would love to see them bring a full back to California. I don't even care about the higher fee. No affense but you get what you pay for and the last race I did the volunteer left their post for a few and I missed a vital turn adding almost half an hour to my race!

I've done M-Dots and Independants. I've been luckier than most but due to the risks imposed by "life", I won't ever sign up for race 12 months in advance again. Doing GFT 140.6 in Oct and just signed up 6 weeks ago. Love the flexability of independants. I guarantee the Great Floridian rivals any WTC race (exeption Kona). The only WTC race I'd like to do some day is Lanzarote Canarias. I'd also like to do the Endura Sport Iron Plus race in the Bahamas. Point is, Iron is Iron :)

Any guesses as to what this might be? Me and 3 friends were standing outside the Apple store in NYC when a woman in her mid 20's (we're 19-22) comments on my friend's jeans (they were plain). Then she brings up things like football and the subway. My friend with the jeans is shy so she turned her attention to another friend. She points out the building behind the apple store and says she works there.. blah blah. She asks my friend for his number, a week later, today, he's walking out in a suit to meet her somewhere.
The whole thing from the beginning was weird, it felt like she was giving a powerpoint presentation when talking to us. I'm thinking she was doing some guerrilla-style market research, that, or she's a scientologist.

Такого грандиозного порноскандала мир, пожалуй, еще не знал, и Украина в нем сумела «отметиться» по полной программе. В крупнейшей международной преступной порносети, выявленной странами Европола, было задействовано 23 ребенка, в том числе — 21 из Украины! По заказу клиентов 9-16-летние девочки из Харькова снимались в порно половых актах и развратных позах. Арестованы 92 педофила из 8 стран мира.
Операция спецотделов полиции различных стран мира под кодовым названием «Коала» длилась около полутора лет. В интернете «засветились» фотографии сцен надругательства над двумя бельгийскими девочками 9 и 12 лет. Как оказалось, насиловал их собственный отец, проживавший в городе Брюгге. Его арестовали еще в 2006 году, пишет «Сегодня».
В процессе расследования выяснилось, что в деятельность сети педофилов включено также 21 девочку из Украины — сцены насилия над ними снимали в частной студии. Руководил сетью 42-летний гражданин Италии Сержио Марцола, проживавший в Болонье. Кроме того, он имеет два собственных дома в Украине, в одном из них и размещалась студия.
Полиция утверждает, что Марцола продавал пароли доступа к видео через интернет посредством 30 сайтов, причем клиентам из стран, где скорость закачки файлов была недостаточной, он высылал DVD почтой в обмен на денежные переводы. Стоимость диска — от 200 до 400 евро. Некоторые клиенты платили также за присутствие при съемке детского порно. При обыске у него нашли $ 140 000, спрятанные в звуковых колонках, целый шкаф эротической детской одежды, сотни DVD с детским порно и архив с 30 000 электронных писем, после анализа которых и начались аресты.
Клиентами Марцолы были люди разных профессий из 19 стран мира, всего около 2 тыс. человек — адвокаты, врачи, учителя, программисты, инструкторы по плаванию. 40 педофилов задержано Британии, 21 — во Франции, 11 — в Испании, 8 — в Швеции, 5 — в Бельгии. 9 человек, которым предъявлены обвинения, остаются в тюрьмах.
В МВД, ГПУ и Нацбюро Интерпола пока воздерживаются от конкретики о результатах операции «Коала» в Украине, ссылаясь на конфиденциальные договоренности с зарубежными коллегами. В УМВД Харькова «Сегодня» ответили, что работа по установлению обстоятельств скандальной истории продолжается и грядут новые аресты.

Следствие утверждает, что дети были в контакте с заказчиками, те присылали им в Украину подарки — белье, в котором они должны были сниматься, и даже стихи и украшения. Впоследствии эти элементы одежды выставлялись на аукцион в интернете.
