  1. Go to first new post HR/breathing rate: bike vs run

I am trying to find some general info and am having no luck. My question is three-fold: 1) While I dont know my "official" RHR or MHR, they are likely 'round 60-65 and 180-190, respectively. What concerns me is that just putting on my shoes rockets my HR into the 90s and walking sends my HR...

  2. Go to first new post How can I tell if my resting heart rate is too high?

If your resting heart rate is greater than 70, check with your doctor to see if your thyroid is overactive, you are anemic, or you have an infection, hidden tumor, a weak heart or other cause of a rapid heart rate. Having a resting heart rate greater than 70 increases your chances of suffering a...

  3. Go to first new post Heart Rate Monitor Lap Question

I have been cycling for years but now I am considering a duathlon. I recently moved with my job and my new town doesn't have a big cycling community but does have a huge tri community, hence the interest in the duathlon. I have a heart rate monitor (Polar s720i) and was wanting some advice on...

  6. Go to first new post What Heart Rate monitor do you use?

Just wondering what HRM you use. I use the polar 510 (with cycling functions). Easy to use, but I don't use most of the functions. Great to set up training zones and have it beep when you are either above or below.

  7. Go to first new post Poll: Sweat Rate

HELP... All this drinking is killing me. I'm wondering if I'm calculating wrong or just have a tiny bladder. Here's my dilemma. I have measured my sweat rate numerous times now. I average a loss of 63-67 oz per hour via sweat (is this normal???). This means I have to consume 16oz of...

  8. Go to first new post Heart Rate Monitors

I've been looking at Heart Rate Monitors for a couple of weeks now. Initially, I was very excited by the new Nike Triax C-series, but haven't seen any good reviews of previous Nike HRMs. Polar gets great reviews, but they're bulky and butt-ugly. Another brand I've heard great things about is...
