Spring has sprung

Spring has sprung in central Pennsylvania!!!! I competed in my first triathlons last season: both sprints, one individual and one as a team.... I trained to finish but did much better than I expected.... This year my goal is the Olympic distance....in July.. I just started training for it. If anyone has any tips to becoming a faster swimmer I would appreciate it... I didn't grow up on a swim team and actually took adult swim lessons last spring to compete... thanks for your help.. Sarah

Swimming Tips

Wow, now that is a big question. There are soooooo many things that you need to come to grips with to become a good swimmer.

There is a ton advice on the net. I recomend doing a quick search for swim drills.

It all depends on where you are at now as too what you should focus on. The most important thing is to raise your legs and butt close to the surface. You arms and head form a tube in the water that good form will allow your butt and legs to follow through. Next, I would worry about breathing. Bilateral breathing or breathing every 3 0r 5 strokes is important. Once you have mastered those then you can start working on your kick and stroke.

Like I said, there is a ton to work on, depending on what your ability is will decide what you should focus on most.
