Open Water Alone

Always, I have to train in Open Water alone.
I need to have one system for my personal security, if I have any trouble far from shore
Sometimes, I am afraid
Thanks

I never train alone in open water, unless it is a protective area close to the shore where there are people around. If you have no choice but to train along in open water I would carry something that makes a big sound or flash light to alarm others you are in need to held. You need to be close to where people are in order to hear/see you.
Honestly, if you feel you are putting yourself at risk in the open water area I would suggest you reconsider the location and/or swimming solo.

I was a lifeguard for 10 years, a competitive swimmer for 8 years, and even I would never swim alone.
It is usually the strong swimmers who end up in trouble.

If you must, you can buy what is called a 'rescue buoy'. (Those red floaties with a chest strap). You strap it around your shoulder when you're swimming and it drags behind you. If you get a cramp you can hold on to it as a flotation device. You can even attach a whistle (Fox 40 ones can get wet and still work) to the buoy.

But of course, the best bet? Swim with a buddy and let people know where you are going.

I disagree. I wouldn't say it's the strong swimmers who get in trouble. They know what they are capable off and know their limits. They are aware of the dangers.

Like everything in life, the less experienced and new people who are not 100% sure of the risks are the ones who get into trouble.

If you are that worried, bring a buddy, perhaps a Fox 40 Whistle or even find a way to bring a cell phone in some sort of waterproof bag attached to your waist??????

Stay close to the shore line and swim along it.

Lots of options

:)
