Swim Goggles fogging

Any easy recommendations to prevent this???? Has anyone tried washing their goggles with shampoo? I realize I can buy defogger at a local swimming store and will do this as a last resort but was hoping for a fix utilizing a product I already have at home. Will the enzymes in your saliva eventually degrade the protective covering on the lens? should you really not lick your lenses?

liquid soap

I have used dishwashing soap, body wash soap, hand soap, and hotel shampoo. Once the coating gets worn and they start fogging I use these as quick fixes. I find my trick is to use a little with water and lightly rub the inside of the goggle lens. Try not to get to strong a mixture or you will suffer some eye discomfort as you swim. I try to get a good seal and not remove my goggles until I am finished swimming. If you rinse your goggles before swimming the effect seems to lesson and they are more prone to fogging. My quick fix.
Later.

Defog

Good old fashioned defog from your local dive shop is best. Gels last longer. I use "500 PSI" brand every time. As a SCUBA diver, swimmer and triathlete I'll confess that I'd almost rather run out of air that for my lens to fog. Defog is cheap, quality defog will always work and because you only need a tiny amount for swim goggles, it should last you many, many years.
Happy Swimming!
