Anyone have advise about parachute training?

Hi,
I was wondering if someone could help me? I am going to train for a marathon with a friend. She is somewhat slower than I am, and it causes me to have to "pull-back" a lot. What do you think of the idea of my running with an overspeed training parachute (the light one-to create 15 lbs of resistance)? Would this work to slow me down, keep in in peak condition, and enable us to train together? I've never used one, and they're around $50, so please advise. We run on trails.
Thanks,
Nicole

I wouldn't recommend it. Parachutes are good for sprint training not for endurance base building. Running in trails they may get snagged in tree limbs and cause injury. If training together is very important to you then I suggest you add mild speedwork before or after your base building run with your friend.
