New Guy

Good Afternoon...My name is Dave and I'm new to the forum and to Triathlons. I'm 36 yrs. old, married, no kids, ex-smoker, from Pinellas County Florida (Near Tampa Bay). I want to do my first tirathlon next year, The Ford Ironman World Championship 70.3. Yes that is a lofty goal but before I decided to do it I thought hard and long about it and then planned it out. I am volunteering at it this year to see how it goes and then competing next year. I don't expect to win or place high I just want to do it. I will compete in other less attractive triathlons and running races to lead up to next years event but that is my goal.

Great goal Fan. Good luck. Do know that you must qualify for that race by placing in another IM 70.3 event. That's not one you can just "sign up"for. Look at St Croix' 70.3 [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. It's a tough race but there are lots of IM WC slots.

Thanks...I was actually thinking about the Florida Ironman 70.3 located in Orlando as it's an open entry and alot closer to home. I'm just not sure if I can be ready by May 18 to race. Maybe I'll wait a little longer and compete in a handful of Sprints until I'm ready to do a 70.3
