Hey everyone! My name is Mike and I am new to the triathlon game. I am a competitive distance runner looking for a new challenge. Believe me I have found it.

Hola Mike!

Here we like to say:

"Hi, my name is Heather, and I'm a triathlete." (now everyone together, "Hi Heather.") What I'm trying to say is that this sport gets in your blood and becomes an addiction. You're probably already familiar with that logic racing distance races. Welcome to our little group, fire away with any questions. We have all levels of triathletes here, all ages, backgrounds, and experience. Good luck to you!

I wanted to thank all of you for the warm welcome. I am looking forward to training and getting ready to race in a triathlon. My first race is scheduled for next summer, but I have started training. I have scheduled a couple of sprints and an olympic distance race. I am really excited about it.

Is that a Steve Prefontaine quote? I grew up in Eugene, Oregon (Track City, USA). I grew up running on Pre's trail with the caliber of people like Mary Decker Slaney. I also did track meets at Hayward Field. So, lot of personal history there!

My quote is from the one and only Steve Prefontaine. He is my idol!! That is so cool that you grew up in Eugene!! I try to read as much as I can about Pre and I had a friend of mine take a picture of the rock when they visited Oregon. I have always wanted to visit. That is one place on my list that I have never been to. In college we would watch the movie "Prefontaine" the night before our track and cross country meets. I would love to hear some of your stories about training in Oregon.
