Any similar expierence?

Just completed my first sprint(1/3 swim/13.2 bike/5k run). A co-worker suggested that I give the TRI a try. So after 8 weeks of training the race was on. I finished first in the novice division(1:13:00)86th out of 500 overall. I met my goal of winning the first timer category but fell a little short on my time(wanted to do 1:10:00-blame it all on my transition times! So here's my issue...I expierenced some bleeding(just drops) from my private part(I'm a male) after the race and for the next few days. I have seen a doctor who explained that it is not uncommon for some bleeding to occur in the urinary tract after extreme exertion(blood chemistry and chemical changes)and that it is possible that compression and rubbing may have caused a blood vessel to tear. I usedTri shorts for the race which have less padding than my cycling training shorts..I thought this may have something to do with it. Anyway this may soung gross and too personal for some but I thought what better way to see if any longtimers or pros may have similiar expierences or advice. Thanks for your time. TOMMYTHEBULL.

Great time Tommy! I'm very impressed with your performance.

I have had severe numbness in the groin after Iron distance races that I normally do not get in training but I stay aero more on the flats than I can here in the hills where I train so I chalk it up to that. I can't say I have ever had nor have I ever heard of that condition. Frankly, it would concern me. If you saw a GP, I'd consider seeing a urologist. Good luck.

Thanks Scott. My GP did suggest that if I continue to see this that she would refer me to a urologist or I could just decide to go. Urine was negative for blood when I was there today. You can see I'm not overly concerned w/ HIPAA regulations(LOL)!. Anyway I really enjoyed my first race....learned a lot of little things like be careful how you first dive into the water or you'll wash your goggles right off your face...or make sure you don't put your jersey on backwards while getting ready for the bike(then you have to take it off and put it on right)...make sure you know where in the hell your bike is racked(so you don't look like you're in the mall parking lot looking for your car....the good news was that once I got on my bike I was never passed by anyone for the rest of my time on the course(including the run). I averaged almost 22 mph on the bike ..but really want to get up to that 24-26 mph range. Now that I have to enter as an age grouper my next goal is to finish in the top 8 at my next race in Aug.(I would have finished10th in my age group(I'm 42)if I was entered as an age grouper on my first race). Anyway thanks for your attention. See Ya! Tommythe Bull.

Was out with a sports med. friend who suggested dehydration has produced similar issues. What ever it is, I hope it doesn't visit again.
