Thanks again for the warm welcome

When I read updates to some of your posts. I am so amazed and so very impressed that there are people that can do what you are all able to do. It is somewhat intimidating in it's own right - that having been said, I have never encountered a more welcoming and "cool" group of athletes. No matter what shape and size, newbie, novice or elite, we are treated so much like a family or group of friends from jump street - as in the first time I poked my head into this community.

And as I was saying... I laugh at the notiion I may some day do this, but today I did... I did my own little tri - i got up this morning and biked 28 miles with a friend of mine, took my four boys to their swim lessons and did my laps for 30 minutes while the got their lesson and "walked" can't kid anyone here.. for 45 minutes in between....

So not truly in the right order or in a one after another timing... but this 230lbs phat guy (and losing nicely) got out today and did all three of the disciplines to the best of my ability in prep for my first Sprint tri in July. I am also running my first 5k next weekend - a fighting irish 5k... and yes I will attempt to "run" the distance... I may swim and ride next weekend as well... I never felt better about anythiong before... this is so addictive... so in essence I wanted to thank all of you for being so welcoming and to the elites, for being so inspirational in what the real deal is... i may never get to that level.. but it is nice to know I can hang in the same crowd and be accepted as if and I know it is true... finishing is winning.

Thanks again! Another time I will tell you why I am here and who my true inspiration is... or more about her. My late wife. I see TNT referenced here often and I plan on running in her honor... Have a good day Mar.

Congrats on beginning your journey. If you take a long term, steady approach to this or any fitness activity, six months you'll marvel at the change in your fitness level. Probably your weight, too. Let that be a by-product of increase in fitness and the change will shock and surprise you. You'll be more into the run or swim technique than the weight loss and all of the sudden one day you'll see yourself in the mirror and marvel at the change. I was by no means fat but the result of the training has been noticed by so many people. But it was getting ready for the race that I was working on, not the weght loss or beer gut slimming.
Go amdshawnee!
An afterthought- do you have a program to follow?

Hey! Good for you. I have to tell you Iam a strong swimmer, poor biker and pitiful runner! Icould probably walk faster than I can run, but it feels like cheating. It's very satisfying just to finish. Good luck to you. Remember,It's not a paltry goal to finish Celia
