Hey all....I found this website and was pumped about it. I just finished college soccer and thought I would take up running as a past time now. Well I found out that they are two different animals as far as training. :what: If anyone on here could help me by giving me running schedules...etc...etc..that would be great. Thank you and God bless.
Great to read about another person starting to run. We know a lot of soccer players who are now runners.
To get a good start running, you need a running program that incorporates a walk and a run component. That is you begin by running for one minute and then use the next minute to walk and recover. This is repeated until you have covered approx. 20 minutes. Each week you increase the running component by one minute. Thus in week two, you run for two minutes and walk one minute to recover. This would be repeated seven times.
On our website, we have an article for Beginning Runners that lists several good programs, including our own. There also are articles from other topics in running.
With a good starting program, you can be ready for a 5K in approximately 10 weeks.
Good Luck and Great Runs
