My daughter has become a triathlete and has challenged me to join her in her quest to compete on Ironmans around the world.
I am 50 years old , and have not competed in any sport in over thirty years.
Feel free to talk me out of it.
I hope nobody on this site will even think about talking you out of it, as a mater of fact, I think you really want to do it, so hit the ground running and enjoy life as a Triathlete!!!!
Good luck and kudos to you and your very smart daughter (I have 3 myself!)
Spike.
Congradulations and welcome to the Triathlete community!! I think this is an excellent idea. Remember there will be ups and lows, however, if you keep your sight in whatever your goals are, you will get there. Use this forum for any questions or contribute from your experience. I am sure you will have a wealth of ideas from this experience. Keep us posted!

PhylC,
Sorry to say that you would only get more encouragement of out me; it's my job afterall. But other than support your decision, I would make one general comment: without knowing your background, health status or anything else for that matter, the one thing you are going to want to be very leary of is putting in large amounts of volume during your first year or two of training; espcially in the running department. I recommend making some long term plans that slowly get you there over a couple of years....best of luck and welcome to TriWeek.
