Hi Everyone!

Hello everyone using Endurance Online! I would like to introduce myself. I balance college life with being a marathon runner, a mountain biker, and I hope to begin road biking soon. If anyone knows any good rides around the twin cities, MN area, drop me a line! I've been training for 5Ks for the last few months to shake up my workout routine. I have two faithful running dogs whom I love and spoil to no end. I look forward to posting messages and reading responses in these forums.
Thanks!

Welcome, Celery - thanks for joining!

I interviewed in the twin cities about 4 years ago and it was very nice... everyone was very friendly, even the cab drivers.

How do you train there in the winter? Do you train indoors, or do you go out brave the elements?

- R

Winter

The past few winters have been very mild. It has been a very brown winter so far with only light dustings of snow that melt quickly. But even in the cold months I prefer to train outside. With enough layers of clothing, a hat, mittens, and a nice pair of wool socks, running outdoors is possible. There are a few restrictions though: sometimes I can't run when the air is at its coldest, such as in the morning, becuase breathing it burns my lungs, natural trails become treacherous with accumulated snow and ice, and the sun goes down so early that I have to wear lights and reflective strips as early as 4pm. With some adjustments, it is possible to do outdoor winter training in minnesota. I recommend thick running tights and double lined mittens from REI.
