first tri completed

Hello, got told to introduce myself :O)

I did my first ever adult sporting event which happened to be the special K triathlon in Christchurch New Zealand. They had record numbers making it a rather daunting event with 2500 women. It was pretty crazy, specially the rows apon rows of bikes!

On the day my race nerves were extremely butterflied...lol
I was most nervous about the swim leg, which I ended up being in such a hurry to out of the swim leg I bet people who would normaly have been faster than me!

Needless to say, it was awesome and i'm looking forward to the next one. Of course I pissed around in the transition area, so i'll be trying to tidy that up, and of course I have actually really enjoyed the cross training so heres to a smaller, fitter, me :D

Cheers and have a great day!

its seems that only new members who have been doing triathlons for awhile get a mention from members whilst those who are newbies at the sport and need the most encouragement get ignored. I thought this site would be more helpful, friendly and encouraging.

Thanks for the great welcome triweek.

Congrats spacecatz for completing your first triathlon. I only started racing triathlon a little over a year ago and what a great accomplishment to make. Btw - I still do use the transition to just "take a breather." Keep us posted on how your training goes, any questions or input you have. What other races have you been training for?

Thank you for sharing your feelings about the lack or response to your post. We deserve it. Personally, I try to welcome most new members and it has nothing to do with whether they are newbies or experienced. If this happened it was just a coincidence and did not mean to do it. I consider myself a newbie in comparison to other members with many many years of experience in endurace sports and I feel that this forum is helpful to ALL members, newbies or not. I hope you become active in this community, as a fellow triathlete you have a great deal of insight and experience to offer. I look forward to your posts.

Welcome to triweek!

Spacecatz, way to go on your first finish, reading your post made me think that we tend to lurk around sites and read others stuff without thinking that someone is waiting patiently for a simple reply. When I joined TriWeek I recieved a nice welcome from 2 members (Daphne being one of them) in just under 24 hours, I must have posted at the right time? I also saw your post on the potato and sweet potato, being Irish the rules are simple at my training table, make sure there are lots of them any way you wish to prepare them. Im told by my daughter who is a chef, sweet potatos french fried is delicious and quite good for you. I will get back to you on the nutrition value for you when I get more info from her. Again, sorry for leaving you hanging and keep on training.
Spike.

Welcome

Congrats on the first tri.
Christchurch is a beutiful city. My wife and I were down there in 2000 for southern traverse. We loved it so much that we went back down there again in 2003/4 so I could do my teachers college. Love NZ. It is so different than Canada. Everyone is athletic and not fat!

Well, welcome to triweek, and good luck on your next tri. Its good to see you are having fun with it!
Syd :o

Welcome spacecatz,
Looks like a few good people have stepped in to make you feel more at home. Just so you know, I try to welcome new members as often as I can and to let you know that I'm here to help keep the quality of information high and answer any questions you may have. You didn't hear from me before as I just returned from my first trip to Europe...and I say first because I can't wait to go back! I hear New Zealand is pretty sweet too. Cheers.
