Hello Everybody

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to the triathlon scene. I don't even know that I could call myself a beginner as I will try my first one in July. I started running steady last spring in order to lose some weight and increase energy. It was a difficult task as I have more of a football player's body(6ft 265#s) than a endurance athlete's body. I ran a couple 10K races last summer and a 1/2 marathon in Sept. and was surprised how well I was recieved by the other runners. Instead of being shunned for my large build, I was actually embraced and encouraged.I am looking forward to this year. I have planned to run Grandma's marathon in June and compete in my first tri in July. The training has been tough, but surprisingly enjoyable. I really enjoy swimming and biking so they complement my running quite well. :)

Today I am taking the welcome role..so..WELCOME :-)
After your first race you will be experienced and not a beginner anymore. The fact that you have some running background will help you A LOT in your race. Running is my weakest leg of a triathlon, but it is known that you can loose or win a race on how good runner you are. My goal this year is to become a better runner overall. Keep us updated on how your training is going!

Hi... again. Hope you stayed awake after my other post trying. I'm a complete noob too and I am going on my 1st club bike ride tomorrow. I have been swimming, biking and running for about 6months now but not wih a tri club. I'm from raining manchester in England so the bike riding weather realy sucks so I'm having to ride out tomorrow with this group to motivate me more.

How did you hear about triathlon?

I got my 1st tri in 3 months time and am slowly building my bas and going to move to harder training in a few weeks to prapare me for this one.

Love to Swim?

As far as I am concerned that is the hardest aspect. Most triathlete's don't master that aspect to thier liking, I hope you continue to enjoy that aspect. Seems like you have a handle on the running. I hope you meet a good group of triathletes in your area. I find that everyone is a little "tight" at the beginings toward one another, but come finish time " it's all good". Football practice is just as hard. Come game time it was all fun. Approach tri's the same way. Enjoy.

I can't remember where doing a tri first entered my mind. It's kinda been up there as one of those things I would be proud to do, but probably never accomplish, much like the marathon. Well I plan to complete the marathon in June and figured the next step would be to complete a tri.
