Howdy from down on the farm

Hello
I am a 47 year old age grouper triathlete. Am looking for a community that shares tri knowledge and encouragement. Have been a regular at trienewbie for awhile. It is often frequented by some rather immature ranters, that just want to hear themsevles bash others for some reason. Dont see that here.
I have completed over 50 tris including 2 IM.
Glad to be here.
Carlos

Hi Carlos,
Glad you decided to join us.
Just so you are aware, RST has recently begun to monitor this forum to help keep up the kind of quality you are looking for...sounds like I won't have any trouble with you though. ;)
But seriously, I'm here to add the coach's perspective and welcome you.

Thanks Daphne, well I have certainly made most of the mistakes 2-3 times, you know, like dont be habitually dehydrated, maybe being a strong runner does not mean you should ignore the other two sports, stuff like that.
:)

1. get with a group of encouraging and fun more experiance triathletes.
2. refuse to be discouraged.
3. to be a better on the bike, train with bikers, etc, but dont always just train with the folks that solo specialize. It can be discouraging in the beginning to be the one that is dropped.
4. Try not to be always be comparing yourself to others that are faster, leaner, have more expensive equiptment, it can be discouraging and misses the point. This is about you improving in the race of life and in the race of life you have one person you are racing. It is you.
5. Keep this in perspective and dont make triathlon an "idol". Dont worship it or let your family suffer from it. OUt of perspective, triathlon or anything that is good, can be bad. It can be bad for you, bad for your family . It can also be incrredibly good for you.

Always remember,
This is fun!
