Women should pay more attention to sufficient iron intake. It is very common for female endurance athletes to suffer from iron deficiency (about 50% from article I read). Make sure the multivitamin you take has 100% of daily value. And taking Iron Vitamins won't work because the body needs a combination of vitamins for the body to absorb the Iron.
For vitamins I use Cooper Complete Elite Athlete. It was formulated by Dr. Cooper and has ample vitamins and minerals along with extra antioxidants to help reduce the possible oxidant load on endurance athletes because of their hard training. Can't say I "feel" any different, but its the best product I have found.
Beta Alanine is an amino acid that is very effective in reducing lactic acid build up. Supplement called First Order is Excellent for endurance athletes

I never felt anything from vitamins/mineral formulas either, so I stopped using them.
Recently started using Greens powders (freeze dried fruits and vegetables) in my morning smoothie and actually feel more energetic during and after training.
Berry Green and Biotest Superfood are the best I've found so far.
