ulti vitamins, supliments, and eating right...

well, this September i completed my first triathlon, the half iron man in lake Geneva Wisconsin. I was pleased with my results. I know my performance and training have been affected by my poor eating habits. i take a one a day multi vitamin(just ran out of them, so i need more) and am open to suggestions as to which ne is the "best". I am a fairly lean built male, 6'3" 175#. The basis of my diet is a banana or two a day along with an apple and cheerios for breakfast, possibly a carrot on the car ride to school. Lunch usually is not as healthy, some times a ham sandwich, other times a burger and ice water, dinner i usually have one of those baked chickens(1/2 of one, those things are huge!) some bread&butter, mixed frozen veggies, spaghetti, deli sandwich, or things along those lines.
I know some of the health nuts are probably dropping their jaw right now, but i know i have major room for improvement, i just do not know where to start. i go to the grocery store with every intention of buying healthy stuff, but i have no idea what the right healthy stuff is. the above listing of food is basically my favorite types of meals, and the type of food i eat most often.
what should i change about my eating habits?

also, as to not post twice, i have a question about anti inflammatory during a 1/2 or full iron man. I took Motrin during my half Iron man and that worked fine, i am wondering if there are others out there who do this so as to aleave tender knees or joints? is this a bad thing to do?
i just signed up for inside triathlon magazine and just am now getting more serious about the nutrition side of my training as i am aiming to complete the Madison iron man in 08, and the Milwaukee lakefront marathon in 07.
any and all advice is very much appreciated.
thanks

About your first qusetion I may have some help. Its a new drink called Mona Vie. Its got a lot of fruits, vegies, and antioxidants to help your recovery and health. You take a 2oz. drink twice a day. You can check out the web site at monavie.com. I ahve been on it for 2 months and muscle soreness is a thing of the past! If you have any questions email me at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
